Arambol - the Israeli village in North Goa

Arambol is a small beach town in the north of the state of Goa. It is definitely one of the most beloved beaches for Israelis and not only, the high tourism in Arambol has turned it into a bustling village full of restaurants, cafes, bars, live performances and events. It is a lively place with a lot of tourism. In addition to all of this, Arambol is also developing a spiritual scene and community, with lots of yoga studios, retreats, workshops, singing circles, drum circles at sunset on the beach, circus and fire shows, ecstatic dance, and more.

These days Arambol has started to be busy with Indian tourism, so those looking to sleep in a slightly quieter and more rural area can find places to sleep on the other side of town (east of where the local fruit market is located on the main road outside Arambol), which has become an area with a lot of Western tourism and cute cafes. A moped is required to get from this area to the beach area of Arambol.

Arriving in Arambol

Marambul is located about a two-hour drive from the airport and the train station. Most people choose to travel by taxi, but those who want to arrive by bus will have to take a bus to Mapusa (a town located about 30 km from Arambul) and from there take another bus to Arambul.
It is worth knowing that the Arambol bus station is about two kilometers from the beach, from where you can walk or take a taxi/tuk-tuk.

Distance from Arambol toPalolem, The second favorite coastal town of Israelis is about a 3-4 hour drive.

Recommended season in Arambol

The season in Arambol is in line with the season in Goa and is in the winter months – November to March. The rest of the year is very hot and during the monsoon season (June-September) there is a lot of rain.

What can you do in Arambol?

Those looking for something to do beyond spending time at the beach and restaurants can go to one of these places:
♦ Sweet Lake – A strip of beach north of Arambol a short walk away through an alley of shops and isolated guesthouses. The strip is stunningly beautiful, with strangely shaped gray rocks that provide a dramatic and pastoral look. On the other side of the beach is a freshwater lake. It is highly recommended to enter the path that is adjacent to the water channel that eventually reaches Sweet Lake. The area is covered with trees and there are many cute corners to sit and rest in or outside the stream. North of Sweet Lake is a nudist beach for those interested. It is worth knowing that there is no reception in the entire Sweet Lake area.
♦ The Sweet Lake Lookout – A path leads from the lake at Sweet Lake to a viewpoint over the Arambol coastline.
♦ Sunset Market – In the middle of the beach, opposite the LOVE TEMPLE (hostel), every day at sunset a special market/fair is held. Locals and tourists come, set up stalls and sell their wares, there are singing circles, drums and kirtan (sacred mantra chanting), juggling, fire shows and social gatherings.
♦ Fresh banyan (ficus tree) – Ficus trees are unique trees that grow horizontally! This means that ancient ficus trees consist of a large number of trunks and branches that branch out in amazing shapes and create a kind of growing "city". There are many ficus trees in Goa, some of which are particularly large and are an interesting attraction. They can be easily found on Google Maps. The banyan trees provide a shaded and ventilated area, making it a perfect escape from the heat and humidity of the beach.

♦ Events in Shunya – Shunia is a space for alternative parties and events with tourists and travelers from all over the world. It is best known for its ecstatic dance, and there are a variety of other events and parties there.

Beaches around Arambol

Kerry Beach – North of AramboWe will find the last beach of Goa – Curry Beach, about 15 minutes from Arambol. It is a beach with little tourism in the style of the past. The beach is clean and there are a few restaurants on the shoreline.

Between Arambol and the Anjuna area there are three beaches – Mandram – Ashvam – Murjim. These beaches are especially popular with Western tourists. They are pleasant, less crowded, wide, and have plenty of places to sit. Along the strip you can find local restaurants with delicious, cheap food, alongside upscale Western restaurants.

The southernmost beach is called “Turtle Beach,” located where the sea meets the Chapora River. This beach is a protected nature reserve, so there are no restaurants or accommodations.

During the nesting season, you can come and watch the turtles come to lay their eggs in the early morning hours. The beach is pristine and the water is particularly pleasant and calm. It is recommended to come with long pants and water, as there is nowhere to buy them on the beach.

Day trip outside Arambol – For those who want some peace and quiet and get out of the familiar tourist area, here is a suggestion for a day trip to the beaches in the seam area between Goa and Maharashtra – this is an authentic area and not touristy at all, and you can easily just take a moped and wander between the villages and special beaches.
Leaving Arambol towards Kerry Beach, the area is across the river and you can cross by bridge or ferry.
The recommended beaches in the Maharashtra area are –

 · Red Fort Beach is located on the bank of a river that flows into the sea. You can cross the river and swim in the sea or take a dip in the lake if you want calmer water. The beach has a place to stay with high-quality tents. You can have fun with a group of friends glamping for the day and enjoy complete peace.

· Shiruda Beach – A long stretch of beach without many people, where you can find a small number of restaurants. On the beach you can find oysters and special water creatures. At the end of the beach is the mouth of the river into the sea, where tourists do not come at all and it is highly recommended to swim there.
