Jodhpur
Jodhpur, the Blue City in Rajasthan, is the second largest city in Rajasthan. It is called the City of the Sun due to the strong sun and the hot weather that prevails there most of the year. Following the sun, a large part of the city's houses, especially in the old part of the city, are painted blue, which is why it was named the Blue City. It is located at the foot of the Thar Desert and below a large and impressive fort - Marnagar Fort, which sits on a hill above the old blue city. The bright blue houses against the backdrop of the desert and the fort create a pastoral and special spectacle that attracts many tourists from all over the world. As a result, Jodhpur has become a vibrant and modern city with a scene of innovative and hipster cafes, boutique shops, and authentic shops with colorful Rajasthani goods, of course alongside fascinating historical sites and colorful markets. Jodhpur is definitely a special and colorful city that is a whole fabric of colors, sounds, and flavors with a traditional and historical scent. Definitely a city worth visiting and will make you feel like you've jumped into a Rajasthani fairy tale.
Have you ever wondered why the houses in Jodhpur are painted blue?
There are several explanations for this, according to tradition. The first explanation is that the city's residents painted the exterior walls of their houses in a bright, shiny color to prevent the houses from getting too hot from the scorching sun. Another reason, according to tradition, is that they painted the houses in royal blue to distinguish the houses of the upper class - the Brahmin caste - from the rest of the population.
