Om Beach, the calm and magical beach, "the Sinai of India." A stretch of beach with two bays that resembles the Hindu "Om" sign in shape, hence its name.

Om Beach is the perfect place to come to rest, relax, sit on the beach and soak in the amazing waters (and maybe you'll be lucky enough to swim with the dolphins), to jam at sunsets, practice yoga, have soulful conversations with friends, without looking for attractions or somewhere to run all the time, and without parties and hustle and bustle.

Compared to the beaches of Goa, at Om Beach you won't find Western restaurants or a wide variety of guesthouses, and the rooms there are of a lower standard. This is not the place for those who want to be pampered and are looking to escape the "bullshit" of India.

Accommodation and stay at Om Beach are very modest. There are a small number of guesthouses (less than 10), which have very modest rooms with a fan at best, and a canopy over the bed designed to protect against unexpected guests who come from the jungle. Each of the guesthouses has a restaurant with Indian food or shakshuka and chips, and the highlight is that they are about ten steps from the sea. And that's what they found at Om Beach.

Despite the "dogged" conditions, and perhaps precisely because of them, Om Beach is definitely an amazing and magical place that draws in and causes many travelers to "get addicted" and stay there for long periods of time, or return again and again.

Arriving at Nation Beach

To get to Om Beach independently by public transportation, you must first get toGokarna, the town located about twenty minutes from Om Beach.
Sleepers from many destinations arrive in Gokhale – Hampi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, and more, and there is also a train station there where trains arrive from Goa, Mumbai, and Bangalore.
Many travelers choose to reach Om Beach from the busier beaches of Goa. It is a short trip, and in this case it is most common to organize a group in a taxi that can take you directly from Goa to Om Beach.
The nearest airport to Om Beach is Dabolim Airport in Goa, about a four-hour drive away.

Recommended season at Om Beach

People usually come to Om Beach during the "winter" months - November to March, but you won't feel winter here at all. During these months the sun is strong, warm, and sunny, and the weather is perfect for the beach. The rest of the year the heat becomes stifling and unbearable, and during the monsoon season (June-September) it is humid and the rains are very heavy.

What to do in Om Beach?

The Jewish Home

During the tourist season, a Jewish home operated by the Braslav community operates in Om Beach. They lovingly host many Israeli travelers for hot meals and activities, and help with whatever is needed.

Walking to Kuddle Beach

Kuddle Beach is the neighboring beach. This is another lovely beach that is particularly popular with tourists, and the walk between the two is very short and easy. It is about a half-hour walk along a clear and well-maintained path.
Those who want to diversify a bit from Om Beach, or reach a slightly more diverse selection of restaurants, can happily walk to Kuddle Beach.

Half Moon Paradise Beach

Half Moon and Paradise Beaches are two pristine and stunning beaches located a short walk from Om Beach. If you leave from the southern end of Om Beach, after the Rasta Cafe you will go up into the jungle and continue south you will first reach Half Moon Beach, a walk of about half an hour that includes amazing views of the entire bay.
Half Moon Beach is a small and intimate beach, where you can find one restaurant (if you can call it a restaurant), where you can enjoy cold drinks and fresh fruit after your walk, and a few tents to sleep in.
If you continue about another kilometer through the jungle from Half Moon, you will reach Paradise Beach, which is truly a pristine beach with nothing, just you and the sea.
It requires a short climb from Om Beach and then a descent to Alef Moon, and on the way back the opposite way, other than that the walks are extremely simple on clear paths.
You can get to and from the beaches by boat taxi (only until the afternoon, not in the dark).
This is a perfect escape for those looking for some peace and quiet on pristine beaches with nothing to do. Bring a book, a speaker, games, and enjoy the sea.
