Sikkim 7 Sisters of Assam in brief
This is a very unfamiliar area to tourists in general and Israeli tourists in particular, even to Israelis who live in India or those who come to visit every year.
Therefore, the What's Happening in India team decided to go to the region with a local photographer and content writer, to make Northeast India accessible to you and to convey to you some of the color and diversity of the region.
So a brief explanation.
Here we provide tips on how to get from place to place (from cheap to expensive), what kind of affordable rooms there are, and various solutions for finding taxi drivers and coordinating with a driver easily.
The "7 Sisters" country consists of 8 districts (the 7 sisters and the "other brother" Sikhs). The tour guides and travel agents who work with us say that you need at least 70 days of non-stop travel, every day, to begin to get to know the "7 Sisters" country. We came to the area to collect a variety of destinations and trips for you with Breathtaking views.
There are options here from cheap to expensive, from local buses (local jeeps, like service taxis), private taxis, jeeps to minibuses.
The more people you have, the cheaper the cost of travel will be.
Recommended season to visit the area: April to November.
Some say that it is best to come during and immediately after the monsoon season, when all the waterfalls are rich in water and the landscape is entirely green in various shades.
There is no doubt that traveling in India during the monsoons can put you at risk of several days of non-stop rain.
However, the amount of rain does not reach the amount of rainfall that falls in northern India during the monsoons, where people travel non-stop.

The city of Guwahati – the starting point for several interesting destinations in the northeastern region of India.
Guwahati is the largest city in northeastern India, particularly in the state of Assam. It has a river that crosses the entire northeastern region.
There's not much to do there, but like any big city, you can find clothing and food brands, Western cafes, major supermarkets, Decathlon, and the option to order food online. by the familiar applications, Zomato or Swiggy.
And also, if you come with children, you can go to the city zoo.
The Meghalaya district is located south of Assam, a two and a half hour drive away by car. It will take you three or maybe three and a half hours to get to the town of Shillong by local bus.
- Shillong is not the destination, it is a stopping point, there is a large market, shops and restaurants, decent rooms around the area and even decent apartments for 2500-3000 rupees per night, up to 4 people. In Shillong, it is recommended to continue to the Cherrapunji area, which is another three hours drive. Some fly to Shillong and some make the entire trip to Cherrapunji.
- What is there to see in the Cherrapunji and Sara areas? They are villages that are really close to each other and there are lots of rooms and homestays.
- The border with Bangladesh.
At the height of the mountains, above all the surrounding mountains, there is an area where you can expect a stunning view. Below is a river where you can go boating, but from above you can see a 360-degree view from the edge of the mountain. The view is truly breathtaking. You won't be able to understand the day there. A few meters from there is a waterfall that spills along a rocky river, and from the edge of the waterfall you can see Bangladesh.
- River cruise on the border with Bangladesh.

The word Omar is a small breath, a fairly small area for a cruise, but throughout the entire cruise, which lasts maybe 20 minutes, Apollo less, you won't stop taking pictures everywhere, a stunning view, simply stunning and completely different from any stunning view you will see in India, very worth coming, the cost of the cruise is 150 rupees per person, clear water, you can see the floor around the mountains and different shades of green, worth it and recommended is a link to the location.
- The double-decker root bridge, stunning views, the whole way is beautiful with amazing views but without the bass, it's a descent of at least 3500 steps, it's worth the journey, there's a lot to see beyond the root bridges, there's also a cave, a blue lagoon and other things to see, but almost every place has stairs. We have an easier route to do upon arrival at the place, we recommend staying there for at least 2 nights to make the route to each place gradually, every step is worth it, highly recommended.
- Waterfalls and a pool.
